Grafana integration without code: dashboards, teams and access

The Grafana integration in nana800 creates, finds, updates and deletes dashboards, manages teams and gives people access to your organization through the Grafana HTTP API, with no code. It works with Grafana Cloud and with your own Grafana reachable from the internet, using a service account token. Every Grafana request costs $0.002, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

  • Block run: $0.002
  • Free every month: $3.50
  • No card needed

What you can do

  • Create a dashboard with a title, tags and folder, for example for every new client or project
  • Rename a dashboard and change its tags, folder and panels without touching other settings
  • Search dashboards by part of the title, get and delete them by UID
  • Create, update and delete teams, add and remove team members
  • Invite people to the organization as Admin, Editor or Viewer and change the role later
  • Get the list of organization users and remove a person from the organization

Blocks in the builder

  • Grafana request

    Action · $0.002 per run

Seventeen operations: create, get, search, update and delete a dashboard, the same for teams, add, remove and list team members, invite a user, list users, change a role and remove a user from the organization.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Create a service account token

In Grafana open Administration, then Service accounts, create a service account and press Add service account token. The Editor role is enough for dashboards, teams and users need the Admin role. In Grafana Cloud you do the same in Service accounts of your stack.

  2. 2

Create a scheme and add a trigger

Create a scheme in the builder and add a trigger: webhook if the command comes from your system or a form, time internal for scheduled actions. For the first test the button trigger is enough, it starts the scheme by hand and costs nothing.

  3. 3

    Set up the Grafana block

Add the Grafana block and paste the full address of your Grafana starting with https, and the token. The address must be reachable from the internet: the block refuses localhost and local network addresses like 192.168.x.x. Choose an operation, for example create_dashboard, and fill in the title, tags and folder.

  4. 4

    Find the IDs you need

The dashboard UID is in its address right after /d/, and search_dashboards returns it too. search_teams and create_team return the team ID, get_org_users returns user IDs. Put these values into the next Grafana block.

  5. 5

Turn the scheme on and test it

Turn the scheme on, run it with the button and open the block result: success shows whether Grafana completed the request, and error_message holds the error text. When everything works, keep the scheme on. While it is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

One Grafana request costs $0.002: create a dashboard, invite a person or change a role. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

Yes, with both. Give the full address: your Grafana Cloud stack or your own server. A self-hosted Grafana must be reachable from the internet, the block refuses local network addresses and localhost. In both cases the token comes from a service account.

update_dashboard first reads the current dashboard and changes only what you filled in: title, tags, folder or extra JSON. Panels, variables and time settings stay. If someone changed the dashboard at the same moment, you get a version conflict error: just run the block again.

Use invite_user with an email or login and a role. If the person already has a Grafana account, they join the organization at once, otherwise an invitation is created. Grafana sends an email only if the send email field is true and SMTP mail is set up in Grafana.

The Grafana block does not read or create alerts. But Grafana can send alerts to a webhook address itself: create a contact point of the Webhook type in Grafana with the address of the webhook trigger of your scheme, and add the Telegram message send block to the scheme.

No, operations are set up with fields: address, token, title, tags, role. Dashboards also have an extra JSON field: ready panels passed there replace the old ones, and the other dashboard settings stay.
