Intercom integration without code: users, leads and companies

An Intercom integration in nana800 takes no code: one block creates, reads and deletes users and leads, updates leads, and creates and updates companies. To connect it you need only the access token of an app from the Intercom Developer Hub. Every request to Intercom costs $0.002, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

  • Intercom request

    Action · $0.002 per run

Works with Intercom contacts and companies: creates, reads and deletes users and leads, updates leads, creates and updates companies and lists them. Returns a record, the ID of a new record or a list.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Get an Intercom access token

Open the Intercom Developer Hub, create an app for your workspace and copy its Access Token on the Authentication page. The token is the key nana800 uses to work with your contacts.

  2. 2

    Add a trigger for leads

Create a scheme in the builder and add the webhook trigger: choose the POST method and set a path such as /lead. Your website form or another service sends the lead to the address of this webhook, and the scheme starts with its data.

  3. 3

    Add the Intercom block

Add the Intercom Request block. Choose create_lead in Operation Type, paste the token into Access Token and put the lead data into Email, Phone and Name. In Custom Attributes you can set fixed attributes, for example the lead source.

  4. 4

Turn the scheme on and test it with a button

Add the button trigger, type a test name and email for now, turn the scheme on and press the button. The lead appears in Intercom, and its ID is in the block result. The button itself is free. You pay only for the Intercom request.

  5. 5

    Keep the scheme on

Put the lead data back and keep the scheme on. Every website lead now becomes a lead in Intercom. While the scheme is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Every request to Intercom costs $0.002. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

In the Intercom Developer Hub: create an app for your workspace there and open its Authentication page. The token gives access to your workspace data, so keep it private.

nana800 has no Intercom trigger. Events arrive only through the webhooks of Intercom itself: in the app settings in the Developer Hub subscribe to the events you need and enter the address of the webhook trigger. The block itself works only with contacts and companies, it does not read or send conversations.

In Intercom both are contacts with a different role. The user operations create a contact with the user role, usually your customers. The lead operations create a contact with the lead role, usually visitors who left a name or email.

The block sends requests to the main Intercom API address. Workspaces hosted in the European or Australian Intercom region have their own API address, and the block does not work with them.

No. The block is set up with fields in the browser: operation, token, email, name, phone and attributes as a key and value list. You do not need a server either.
