Jira integration without code: create issues, change status, comment

The Jira integration in nana800 creates, updates, finds and deletes issues in Jira Cloud, adds comments, changes statuses and assigns people, without code. To connect it you need your Jira address, the email of your Atlassian account and an API token. Every operation costs $0.002, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

What you can do

  • Create an issue for every website request or bot message: type, summary, description, priority, labels and assignee
  • Find issues with a JQL query (the Jira search language), up to 1,000 at a time, and pass the list on, for example into a Telegram report
  • Move an issue to another status and add comments to it
  • Assign an issue and change its fields, including custom project fields through JSON
  • Get an issue, its comments and its available transitions by a key like PROJ-123
  • Delete an issue together with its subtasks

Blocks in the builder

  • Jira issues

    Action · $0.002 per run

    Ten operations: create_issue, update_issue, get_issue, search_issues, delete_issue, transition_issue, add_comment, get_comments, get_transitions and assign_issue. Works with Jira Cloud using an Atlassian email and API token.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Create an Atlassian API token

In your Atlassian profile open Security, then API tokens, and press Create API token. Name the token and copy it right away: Atlassian shows it only once.

  2. 2

Add a trigger and the Jira block

Create a scheme in the builder and add a trigger, for example webhook for a request form on your website. Add the Jira block and fill in the Jira address (for mycompany.atlassian.net it is mycompany), your Atlassian email and the API token.

  3. 3

    Set up issue creation

Choose the create_issue operation. Enter the project key (the letters before the dash in issue numbers, such as PROJ), the issue type as it is named in the project (Task or Bug) and a summary. Description, priority, labels and assignee ID are optional.

  4. 4

Turn the scheme on and test it with the button

Add the button trigger, turn the scheme on and press the button. An issue appears in Jira, and its key comes back in the block result. If Jira refuses, the reason is in error_message, such as a wrong project key or a missing field.

  5. 5

    Keep the scheme on

When issues are created correctly, keep the scheme on: every request from your website now becomes a Jira issue. While the scheme is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Every run of the Jira block costs $0.002, whatever operation it performs. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

In your Atlassian profile: Security, then API tokens, then Create API token. The token is shown only once. Paste it into the block together with the email of the Atlassian account that created it.

First run get_transitions with the issue key: it returns the available transitions and their numbers. Then run transition_issue with the number you need in the transition ID field.

search_issues runs a JQL query, for example project = PROJ AND status = "In Progress". An empty query returns the newest issues. The limit field sets how many issues to return: 50 by default, 1,000 at most. If more issues match, is_truncated is true.

No, the block connects only to Jira Cloud, that is Jira at an address like mycompany.atlassian.net. You can paste the full Jira link into the address field, and the block takes the part it needs.

nana800 has no trigger for Jira events. You can run the scheme on a schedule with the time internal trigger and look for fresh issues with a JQL query such as created >= -1d.
