Pinterest Conversions API without code: purchases, leads and sign-ups

The Pinterest Conversions API in nana800 is one block: it sends a purchase, a lead, a sign-up or another of eight event types to your Pinterest ad account. You need a Conversions API token and the ad account ID, and the block hashes the email, phone and name of the buyer with SHA-256 before sending. Every event costs $0.002, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

What you can do

  • Send checkout (purchase), add_to_cart, lead, signup, page_visit, search, watch_video and custom events
  • Send events from the server: a payment from a CRM or payment service through a webhook, a lead from a Telegram bot
  • Add buyer details for matching: email, phone, first and last name, country, city, state, zip and your customer ID
  • Hash personal data with SHA-256 before sending, with no manual preparation
  • Pass click_id from the _epik cookie and the browser user agent so Pinterest links the event to an ad click more accurately
  • Send test events while you check the setup

Blocks in the builder

  • Pinterest Conversions API event

    Action · $0.002 per run

Sends one event to a Pinterest ad account: the event type, the page where it happened and buyer details. The block sets the event time and ID itself. Returns success_sent and the error text if Pinterest did not accept the event.

How to set it up

  1. 1

Get the token and ad account ID

In Pinterest Ads Manager, create an access token for the Conversions API and copy the ad account ID. They go into the access_token and ad_account_id fields. The field hints of the block link to the Pinterest documentation.

  2. 2

Add a trigger that brings the event

Create a scheme in the builder and add a trigger that brings the event: webhook for leads and payments from your site or CRM, Telegram message from user to bot for leads from a bot. For the first test the button trigger is enough.

  3. 3

    Add the Pinterest block

Add the Pinterest Conversion api event block. Choose the event type, for example checkout for a purchase or lead for a lead. Paste the ad account ID and the token, and put the address of the page where the event happened into event_source_url.

  4. 4

    Add buyer details

Fill in email, phone, name and other fields with data from the trigger. The block hashes them with SHA-256 and skips empty ones. If your site stores the _epik cookie, pass its value in click_id so Pinterest can link the purchase to an ad click more accurately.

  5. 5

Turn the scheme on and test it

Choose YES in the is_test field, turn the scheme on and press the button trigger. If success_sent is false in the block result, the reason is in error_text. When everything works, set it back to NO and keep the scheme on. While it is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Every event costs $0.002. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

Both are in Pinterest Ads Manager: the Conversions API token is created in the conversions section, and the ad account ID is shown there too. The field hints of the block link to the detailed Pinterest documentation.

No. The block has no fields for value, currency or products: it sends the event type, the page address and buyer details. If your reports need the order value, this block does not send it.

The block does not send them as plain text: email, phone, first and last name, city, state, zip, country and your customer ID are hashed with SHA-256 before they go to Pinterest. User agent and click_id are sent as they are.

success_sent is true in the block result when Pinterest confirmed it received the event. Otherwise the block is marked as failed and error_text holds the Pinterest answer. With is_test on, events are sent with the test flag.

No, as long as purchase or lead data already reaches the scheme: through a webhook from a CRM or payment service, a message to a Telegram bot, or a button press. The block is set up with fields in the browser, and buyer details come from the trigger.
