Reddit automation without code: posts, comments and search

Reddit automation in nana800 is one block: it publishes posts and comments from your account, searches posts by keyword, and gets or deletes posts. To connect it you need your Reddit login and password and a script type app created in your Reddit account settings. Every action costs $0.002, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

  • Block run: $0.002
  • Free every month: $3.50
  • No card needed

What you can do

  • Publish posts to a subreddit as text or as a link, for example to a new blog article
  • Comment under posts and reply to other comments
  • Search posts by a word or phrase across all of Reddit or in one subreddit, up to 100 at a time
  • Get a post by its ID and delete your own posts
  • See whether Reddit accepted the action: when it refuses, the block returns the reason, such as posting too often
  • Run a search on a schedule and pass the posts found further down the scheme

  • Reddit action

    Action · $0.002 per run

One of five actions: create_post publishes a post, create_comment adds a comment, search finds posts, get_post reads a post, delete_post removes a post. Works from your account through a Reddit app.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Create a Reddit app

Log in to the account you need and open reddit.com/prefs/apps. Click create another app..., choose the script type, enter a name and put http://localhost:8080 in the redirect uri field, since a script app does not use it. After create app, the short code under the app name is the Client ID and the secret field is the Client Secret.

  2. 2

    Add the Reddit block

Create a scheme in the builder and add the Reddit Request block. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret, your Reddit username without u/ and the account password. If two-factor login is on, enter the password and the code separated by a colon.

  3. 3

    Choose the action

Pick create_post in the action field. Enter the subreddit without r/, the title and the post text. If you fill in the link field, the post becomes a link to that page and the text is not sent. The text can come from other blocks, for example the title of an article from an RSS feed.

  4. 4

Turn the scheme on and test it with the button

Add the button trigger, turn the scheme on and press the button. Open the block result: success is true only when Reddit confirmed the post, and created_id holds the ID of the new post. If Reddit refused, the reason is in error_message. The button itself is free. You pay only for the Reddit block run.

  5. 5

Add a trigger and keep the scheme on

Add the trigger you need: for example RSS feed new item to post new blog articles, or time internal to search posts on a schedule. Keep the scheme on. While it is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Every block action costs $0.002: a post, a comment, a search, reading or deleting a post. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

On reddit.com/prefs/apps after you create a script type app. The Client ID is the short code under the app name, the Client Secret is the value of the secret field. Reddit may require approval for new apps: if login fails, check this in the app settings.

Open the block result: the reason is in error_message. Common cases are posting too often (RATELIMIT), a locked thread or a subreddit that does not exist. Write the subreddit name without r/, using only Latin letters, digits and underscores.

There is no trigger for new Reddit posts. Use the time internal schedule trigger with a block set to search: it finds posts by keyword across Reddit or in one subreddit, 25 by default and 100 at most. The posts found can go further down the scheme.

Choose create_comment and enter the comment ID with the t1_ prefix, for example t1_abc123. To comment under a post, use the post ID with or without the t3_ prefix. The block returns the ID of the new comment in created_id.

No. The block is set up with fields in the browser: app keys, login, password, subreddit and text. You do not need a server either: nana800 logs in to Reddit with these details every time the block runs.
