Slack integration without code: bot messages to a channel

The Slack integration in nana800 is the send slack message block: it posts as your bot to a Slack channel and builds the text from scheme data. You need a bot token from your Slack app settings and a channel name, and no code. Each message costs $0.001, and your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month.

  • Free every month: $3.50
  • No card needed

What you can do

  • Post website leads to a channel: the form sends data to a nana800 webhook and the bot writes it to Slack
  • Tell your team about new orders, payments and emails from other services connected to the scheme
  • Send reports and reminders on a schedule, for example every morning
  • Build the text from scheme data: customer name and phone, order total, an AI answer
  • Write to any channel of the workspace the bot was added to, by channel name or by channel ID

Blocks in the builder

  • Send Slack message

    Action · $0.001 per run

The bot posts a text message to a Slack channel. The text can include data from earlier blocks. The result shows whether Slack accepted the message and, if not, the error text.

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Create a Slack app

Open api.slack.com/apps and click Create New App. Under OAuth & Permissions add the chat:write scope to Bot Token Scopes, click Install to Workspace and copy the Bot User OAuth Token that starts with xoxb-. This is the bot token nana800 uses to post as your bot.

  2. 2

Add the bot to the channel

Open the Slack channel that should receive the messages and send /invite @your_bot there. Without this Slack will not let the bot post and returns the not_in_channel error.

  3. 3

Create a scheme and a trigger

Create a scheme in the builder. For website leads add the webhook trigger: pick the POST method, set a path and put the webhook address into your form settings. For the first test the button trigger is enough, it starts the scheme by hand.

  4. 4

Set up the send slack message block

Add the block and paste the token into the bot token field. In the channel field enter the channel name without #, for example general, or its ID like C0123456789. Write the message text and insert data from the trigger, for example the name and phone from the lead.

  5. 5

Turn the scheme on and test it

Turn the scheme on, press the button in the button trigger and check the channel. If nothing arrived, open the block result: the error_text field holds the reason from Slack. Once it works, keep the scheme on. While it is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

One message costs $0.001. The button trigger for tests is free, and a webhook start costs the same as a basic block: $1 per 1,000 runs. An enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour. Your balance is topped up to $3.50 for free every month, no card needed. A scheme kept on around the clock for a month spends most of that on scheme hours.

At api.slack.com/apps: open your app, then OAuth & Permissions. You need the Bot User OAuth Token that starts with xoxb-. If there is no token yet, add the chat:write scope and click Install to Workspace.

The error_text field of the block result shows the reason. not_in_channel means the bot was not invited with /invite. missing_scope means the app lacks chat:write. invalid_auth means a wrong token. channel_not_found means a typo in the channel name or ID.

No, the Slack block only sends messages. nana800 has no trigger for new Slack messages. Schemes start from other events: a lead sent to a webhook, a schedule, a new email, a message to a Telegram bot.

The block sends text only. You can put a link to a file or a page right into the message text.

No. The block has three fields you fill in the browser: token, channel and text. You do not need a server either.

Build your first scheme for free

Sign-up is free and needs no card. Every month the balance is topped up to $3.50 for free, enough for about 3,500 runs of basic blocks.
