Website and API monitoring with Telegram alerts without code

Website monitoring with Telegram alerts takes four blocks in nana800: a timer starts the check, the request block opens the address, a condition checks the response code, and the bot alerts you when it is not 200. You need only the website address and a bot token, with no server and no code. Each check costs two basic block runs ($1 per 1,000), and an enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour.

What you can automate

  • Learn in Telegram that your shop website stopped opening or answers with an error such as 502
  • Watch an API: a request with an authorization header, a response code check and a message to the developer group
  • Check that the page contains the right text, for example a product name: the condition looks for the word in the response
  • Catch a hanging server: if it gives no answer within 60 seconds, the check fails and an alert comes
  • Check several websites in one scheme: each address gets its own request block and condition

How to set it up

  1. 1

    Add the check timer

Create a scheme and add the time internal trigger. Choose how often to check: every minute (an asterisk in the minute and hour), every hour at a chosen minute or once a day. The Health checker template already has the timer, request, condition and Telegram blocks, you only set them up.

  2. 2

Set up the request to the website

Add the request block, enter the full address with https:// and the GET method. For a private API add a header such as Authorization with Bearer and your token. The block waits up to 60 seconds for an answer. Internal addresses such as localhost or 192.168.x.x cannot be checked.

  3. 3

    Add the condition

Add the condition block with one rule: the status response code from the request block equals 200, type number. If the server gives no answer at all, the code is 0 and the rule fails too. A second rule can check that the response body contains a word (the INCLUDES operator).

  4. 4

Connect the bot to the cross exit

The condition block has two exits: the check mark when the rule holds and the cross when it does not. Connect the Telegram message send block to the cross exit. Fill the token, chat ID and a text such as Website is down, and add status and error_message from the request block. In the template, check this exact connection.

  5. 5

Turn the scheme on and test it

Turn the scheme on, temporarily enter an address that does not exist and press the button trigger: the bot should send an alert. Put the real address back and keep the scheme on. While it is on, it costs $0.0042 per hour.

Pricing

A run of a HTTP request block costs $0.001, a run of a Telegram block costs $0.001. Every month the balance is topped up to $3.50 for free, an enabled scheme costs $0.0042 per hour.

Frequently asked questions

Each check is a timer tick plus a request, both at the basic block price of $1 per 1,000 runs. The condition is free, and a failed request is not charged. The scheme stays on all the time at $0.0042 per hour, which takes most of the free $3.50 a month. Checking every minute means about 43,000 checks a month, checking every hour about 720.

At most once a minute, at a chosen second. You can also check every hour at a chosen minute, daily or on chosen weekdays. For a check every 15 minutes, add four timers set to minutes 0, 15, 30 and 45 and connect them to one request block.

Whatever you set in the condition. Usually it is any code other than 200: errors such as 404, 500 and 502, and 0 when the server gave no answer within 60 seconds or the address did not open. On 502, 503, 504 or a dropped connection a GET request retries up to two times before it counts as failed.

Yes. The scheme does not remember earlier checks, so it writes after every failed one until the site is back. If that is too many messages, check less often or turn on silent sending in the Telegram block.

Yes. The request block supports GET, POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE, headers and a request body such as JSON. A response of up to 10 MB comes in full, so the condition can check both the code and the text of the answer.
